Hand-Pinched Purple Clay Rose Earrings with Gold-Plated Tassel

A rose that never wilts — because it was born from fire.

Rose begins as raw Zisha purple clay, coaxed by hand into petals that curve and fold like a bloom just opening. Each flower is shaped one at a time — no molds, no shortcuts — then glazed and fired at 1180–1250°C, where the clay's iron-rich body deepens into wine red beneath a glass-like glaze. The edges of every petal are traced with liquid gold; the stamen tips, too, receive a fine brush of it — small bright sparks against the dark center. Below the flower, gold-plated chains fall in a tassel, catching light with every turn of the head.

This is not porcelain. Purple clay (Zisha) has its own character — denser, warmer, with a subtle weight that reminds you it is real earth, real fire, real hands. Glazing it is a deliberate departure from tradition: most Zisha ware is left unglazed to breathe. Here, the glaze seals the surface into something luminous and jewel-like — a flower you can wear but never water.

Technique Heritage

• Zisha Purple Clay  — A clay body distinct from porcelain, rich in iron and mineral content, traditionally associated with Yixing and prized for its density, warmth, and subtle texture. In Jingdezhen, artisans work with Zisha as a sculptural medium — its plasticity makes it ideal for hand-pinching organic forms that porcelain clay cannot easily achieve. Firing at 1180–1250°C sinters the clay into a dense, durable body with a quiet weight that porcelain lacks.
• Hand Pinching  — Each flower is shaped directly by hand without molds. The artisan builds the rose petal by petal, pressing and folding the clay while it is still wet — a process that demands both speed and sensitivity, as the clay stiffens quickly. The result is a flower that breathes with the irregularity of something real.
• Glazed Zisha — A creative departure from convention. Traditional Zisha ware is left unglazed to preserve its natural breathability and texture. Here, glaze is applied deliberately — sealing the clay's surface into something luminous and jewel-like, transforming the matte earthiness of Zisha into a glossy, wine-dark depth.
• Liquid Gold Detailing  — Liquid gold is hand-painted onto the already-fired glaze surface and baked at 700–850°C. During baking, the organic resin in the gold liquid burns away, leaving a thin metallic film bonded to the glaze — the same finishing technique found on Meissen, Hermès tableware, and Royal Copenhagen.

• Remove before swimming or bathing
• Clean gently with a soft dry cloth
• Handle the flower body with care — ceramic is durable but not unbreakable
